The Kwadaso Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service has on Friday 28th March, 2025,
organized a training program on the Ghana Health Service’s (GHS) introduction of the second dose of
Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (IPV) into the Expanded Program of Immunization (EPI) for Disease
Control Officers (DCOs), Public Health Nurses (PHNs) and Community Health Nurses (CHNs) in the
various Health facilities in the municipality.
The training program among other things was to equip the health professionals with the requisite
knowledge and skills on polio vaccination especially with the introduction of the second dose of IPV2
into the Extended Program of Immunization.
The training was also to enhance the understanding of the health professionals on how and when to
administer the second dose of the polio Immunization and update them on the latest development and
best practices in the fight against polio.
The training program covered a wide range of topics such as, update and introduction of second dose of
IPV into routine vaccination, Communication with Caregivers on IPV second dose introduction,
Communication Strategy, Polio Immunization Protocols among others.
Present at the training program were Mrs. Vivian Asirifi, Deputy Director of Nursing Service (DDNS),
staff of the Health Directorate, Disease Control Officers, Public Health Nurses and Community Health
Nurses of the various Health facilities in the municipality.
The training program was facilitated by Mr. Johnson Sarpong, the Municipal Disease Control Officers
and Mr. Obed Boateng, the Municipal Health Promotion Officer.
