The newly formed Kwadaso Bolakesiem Wood Market Fire Committee held its maiden meeting on Friday 24th, January 2025, at the Municipal Coordinating Director’s office aimed at addressing the recent fire outbreaks that ravaged the kwadaso Wood market.
The Committee’s first meeting was geared towards a coordinated effort from the various stakeholders including the Electricity Company of Ghana(ECG), the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Municipal Assembly, Nananom,Security Agencies and Market Associations to review the circumstances surrounding the recent fire outbreaks, identify potential causes and risk factors and putting in place proactive measures to prevent such occurance in the future.
The committee chaired by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Francis Adu Boateng, also seeks to draw a proper layout for the area to make it easier for traders and customers movement and improve access to emergency situations.
Other members of the committee include:AD01 Benedict Ayamba, Fire Service, ADO1 Samuel Kofi Ampofo, Fire Service, Mr Samuel Aboagye Ofori, NADMO Director, Isaac Kyeremateng, Municipal Planning Officer, Mr Evans Denkyira, Municipal Engineer, Ing. Kwaku Appiah, District Engineer, ECG, Richard Tutu, Assembly Member, Kwame Owusu Adomako, Chairman, Traders Association and Thomas Anane, Secretary, Traders Association.
The Secretary to the Committee is Mr Jesse Issachar, an Assistant Director of the Assembly.
The chairman of the committee charged members to work effectively to help unravel the circumstances surrounding the fire outbreaks.
