As part of efforts to promote sustainable energy,the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has on Thursday,29th November,2024,commissioned a 41-kilowatt Solar Power System for 4 schools and 3 Health Centers in the Kwadaso Municipality.
The event which was held at Apatrapa Health Center was aimed at providing reliable source of energy to these critical institutions.
The solar power initiative was implemented as part of the sister-city partnership program between the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly and Neu-Isenburg from Germany with funding from F.K.K.P also from Germany.
According to the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon.Richmond Agyenim-Boateng, the project which is the first phase will eventually cover 24 schools and 3 Health facilities when completed.
He said the initiative is to help the schools and Health facilities have uninterrupted power supply and also save funds for other projects.
He appealed to the beneficiaries to take good care of the solar panels.
In a brief address ,the Project Manager for F.K.K.P ,Mr Osei-Wusu Karikari, revealed to the gathering that,the second phase of the project will begin next year with a construction of another fifty nine megawatts(59mw).
He said the project has three components,planting of trees,installation of solar power system and waste management system.
Mr karikari reiterated that, the solar panels are very expensive and therefore called on all the beneficiary institutions to take good care of them.
The Reps from the beneficiary schools and Health Centres both expressed their gratitude to the Assembly and their partners for the project and assured them of a good maintenance culture for longevity of the solar panels.
The beneficiary institution for the first phase included, Apatrapa Health Center,Atwima Takyiman Health Center,Nwamase Health Center ,Agric Nzema S.H.S,Methodist Technical Institute, Kwadaso M/A Primary School and Denkyemuoso M/A School.
Present at the event were the M.C.D, Mr Francis Adu Boateng,Oheneba Achiaa Panin ,Apatrapahemaa and her Elders,Presiding Member,Hon.Ernest Frimpong,Assembly Members, Heads of Departments,Headmasters, Teachers,Security Personnel,Hospital Administrators,Nurses,Students and the general public.
