The Kwadaso Municipal office of the National Commission for Civic Education(NCCE) has inaugurated the District Inter-Party Dialogue Committee on Thursday 29th August 2024,at the auditorium of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana,Kwadaso.
The committee was formed to provide strategies that would help resolve petty conflicts that has the potential to affect the upcoming general elections in December.
In her welcome address,the Municipal Director for the NCCE,Miss Mavis Achiaa Opoku,emphasized the importance of maintaining peace before,during and after the general elections.
She stressed that, the formation of the inter-Party Dialogue Committee aims to work with all the relevant stakeholders to avert extremism, promote peaceful coexistence and ensure political stability in the municipality.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Francis Adu Boateng on his part urged all the political parties to refer all electoral disputes to the IPDC for amicable resolution.
He pledged the Assembly’s commitment in ensuring that all logistical support are provided to the Electoral Commission.
DSP Emmanuel Kyei,the Divisional Crime Officer,called on members to assist the security agencies by reporting any suspicious acts and activities to them.
He urged the media to act professionally and not use their medium to propagate falsehoods and misinformation.
The Municipal Electoral Officer,Mrs Thelma Annan,updated the committee on the voter registration exercise, transfer of votes, special voting and voter exhibition exercise the Commission embarked upon.
She assured the committee of the Commission’s commitment to ensure a free,fair and transparent elections.
Representatives from the political parties including the NPP,NDC,and PNC all pledged their commitment to convey the peace messages to their supporters to ensure an incident free elections.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders including the Reps from the various political parties, Electoral Commission, Traditional Council,Religious groups,CSOs,Security Agencies,PWDs,Youth Activists and the media.
The chairman for the Inter-Part Dialogue Committee is Alhaji Attah,the Kwadaso Chief Imam.
