GHANA STATISTICAL SERVICE(GSS) ORGANIZES TRAINING WORKSHOP ON DISSEMINATION OF MULTIDIMENSIONAL POVERTY INDEX(MPI) REPORT.

The Kwadaso Municipal office of the Ghana Statistical Service(GSS) has on Tuesday 25th June, 2024, organized a day’s training workshop for the Municipal Chief Executive, Municipal Coordinating Director and Heads of all Decentralized Departments/Units on Dissemination of Multidimensional Poverty Index(MPI) report at the MCE’s office.
The MPI is data collected by GSS from households on their living conditions, education, health and employment to determine the level and intensity of poverty in the various districts in Ghana.

The MPI report as presented by Mr Kennedy Awuah Gyawu, the Municipal Statistician ,is a standard used to measure Poverty by considering several aspects of deprivation such as living condition(housing,overcrowding, electricity, cooking fuel, toilet, etc), Health(insurance and child mortality), Education (school attendance, school attainment and school lag) and Employment (work for salary or profit).

The purpose of the training workshop was to bring policymakers to know the level of poverty in the Kwadaso Municipality and find ways to address them.
In attendance at the training workshop were the MCE, Hon. Richmond Agyenim-Boateng, the MCD, Mr Francis Adu Boateng, Mr Patrick Adzovor, Senior Statistician, GSS, HQ and Heads of Decentralized Departments/Units.
