MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY CELEBRATED IN KWADASO


The Kwadaso Municipal Health Directorate in collaboration with the Social Welfare and Community Development on Tuesday 28th May, 2024, organized a seminar on Personal and Menstrual Hygiene for inmates of Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre and Kumasi Cheshire Home in commemoration of the World Menstrual Hygiene Day on the theme” Together for a Period Friendly Africa”at the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre.
Mrs Vida Yamoah, a Public Health Nurse, took the inmates through basic personal hygiene tips and safe and efficient ways of using and disposing off sanitary pads.
The Chairman for the occasion, Reverend Father Theophilus Agyemang Nyamekye, praised the organizers for hosting such an important event for the inmates.
He also thanked the sponsors for donating boxes of sanitary pads to both Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre and Kumasi Cheshire Home.
About six hundred disposable sanitary pads were distributed to girls from Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre and Kumasi Cheshire Home.
In attendance were staff of the Social Welfare and Community Development Unit,Staff of Ghana Health Services, Nurses and students and staff of Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre and Kumasi Cheshire Home.
Other dignitaries that graced the occasion included Vivian Asirifi, Director of Nursing Services, Mrs Joyce Owusu, Social Welfare Director, Mrs Agnes Amoateng, Gender Desk Officer, Mavis Opoku, NCCE Director, Foster Otumfuor Delali, Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre and Vivian Asirifi, DDNS.
