REPORT ON IMPACTFUL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH ACTIVITIES FOR THE ‘WORLD CLEAN UP EXERCISE DAY’ACTIVITIES:

As part of initiatives aimed at promoting and enhancing a clean and safe environment, a series of impactful Environmental Health activities were conducted throughout the week within the Municipality to clean the environment and create Public Awareness on the need to practice good sanitation.Angel TV/FM was engaged on Monday 12TH September to sensitize the Public on the need to practice good hygiene. On Wednesday 14TH September, thirty-five(35) staffs of the Assembly joined the coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS), GKMA/GAMA Sanitation and water project to undertake the Clean Ghana Health Walk from Kumasi Cultural center, through Kejetia, Pampaso to the Jubilee Park. The exercise was aimed at sensitizing the public on the need to have a ‘CLEAN ENVIRONMENT’. From the 13th to 16th September, Public Health education was organized in Information centres, Dawn broadcasting on the need for good sanitation practices was carried out in all 16 communities with the van.A clean-up exercise was conducted in three communities within the Municipality namely, Nwamase, Apatrapa and Tanoso on the 17th of September in the Central Business Districts and some refuse collection sites within these communities.

CHALLENGES:

Lack of tools and equipments for clean-up exercisesPoor communal attitude toward clean-up exercises.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Tools and equipments should be procured for clean-up exercises in the Municipality.
