VICE PRESIDENT CUTS SOD FOR COMMENCEMENT OF WORK ON KUMASI INNER CITY ROADS.

The Vice President, H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Friday 25th March, 2022 cut the sod for work to begin on the Kumasi Inner City Roads Project at a grand ceremony at Asuoyeboah in the Kwadaso Municipality.

Addressing a durbar of Chiefs and people of Kwadaso and its environs, Vice President Bawumia reiterated the commitment of Government to improving the road network in Kumasi and the country as a whole.
He said the development of the entire region especially Greater Kumasi and its surrounding areas is of great importance to President Akufo – Addo and his government.
According to the Vice President about 145 different roads for a total of 100km to be constructed were all part of the Sinohydro Master Project Support Agreement (MPSA).
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta, said he will ensure strict compliance of road construction contracts so that contractors are held responsible for shoddy works.

He said the road works will involve drainage works, earth works and asphaltic concrete surfacing. Hon. Amoako Atta assured that Chiefs and people of government’s commitment to provide more good roads across the country.
The project will benefit all Six Metropolitan and Municipal areas including Kumasi Metro, Asokwa, Kwadaso, Tafo, Oforikrom, and Suame Municipalities.
Also Sub – Metros like Bantama, Manhyia, Subin and others will also benefit from the project.
Some selected communities in the Asante Mampong Municipal will also benefit from the project.
Vice President Bawumia was accompanied by a number of dignitaries including the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta, MP for Kwadaso, Hon. Kingsley Nyarko and a number of MMDCE’s including; Hon. Richmond Agyenim Boateng (Kwadaso MCE), Hon. Maxwell Ofosu Boateng (Suame MCE), Hon. Abraham Kwame Antwi (Oforikrom MCE), Hon. Lord Inusah Lansah (Old Tafo MCE).
Others included; Hon. Osei Adiyiah (Sekyere East DCE), Hon. Amoah Awuku Micheal (Atwima Nwabiagya MCE), and Hon. Appiah Kubi (Mampong MCE).
The ceremony was chaired by Atwimahene Nana Antwi Adjei Brempong II.
